Police officers surrounded a South Bend home early Sunday, trying to make contact with a man involved in a domestic dispute who said he’d barricade himself inside where police couldn’t reach him.

Ultimately, though, they did — and he was arrested shortly after 4 a.m.

City 911 dispatch said the victim, a woman, was taken to Memorial Hospital about 1:45 a.m. from the home in the 500 block of Manchester Drive.

That’s near the Morris Park Country Club, north of McKinley Avenue on the city’s northeast side.

Initial reports indicated she’d sustained significant injuries in the domestic dispute. Authorities did not comment on the extent of those injuries.

Officers blocked off adjoining streets near the home during the incident.
