PORTER TOWNSHIP — Police say officers dispatched for a domestic assault on Friday found approximately 60 marijuana plants.

Officers arrived at the 27000 block of Hayne Road in Porter Township around 11 p.m. They found a 49-year-old man and 29-year-old woman who had been involved in a domestic assault.

After arresting the man, police learned both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrests.

While questioning a third individual at the scene, officers smelled marijuana plants. Upon further investigation, potted plants and grow lights were found in a truck parked at the scene, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers obtained a search warrant and found additional materials and growing equipment on the property, say police. They are investigating whether the third individual at the scene was involved in any illegal activity.
