South Bend’s Section 8 housing wait list opens soon

For four days — July 20 through July 24 — the Housing Authority of South Bend will accept mailed applications for the Section 8 waiting list.

Section 8 Rental Assistance Program is geared to help eligible low- and moderate-income families pay their rent. Renters accepted into the program pay approximately 30 percent of their adjusted gross income to landlords.

Applications and pre-paid envelopes will be available at numerous locations throughout South Bend:

Boys & Girls Club, 502 E. Sample St.

La Casa de Amistad Youth Center, 746 S. Meade St.

Martin Luther King Center, 1522 W. Linden Ave.

Colfax Cultural Center, 914 Lincolnway West

Libraries: Main library branch, 304 S. Main St. and Western branch, 611 S. Lombardy Drive

Robinson Learning Center, 921 Eddy St.

Charles Black Center, 3419 W. Washington St.

Health and Vital Records office, 8th floor, County-City Building, downtown

Center for the Homeless, 813 S. Michigan St.

Hope Ministries, 532 S. Michigan St.

St. Joseph County WIC offices, 325 Lafayette St.

Applications can also be downloaded from www.hasbonline.com

Only mailed applications will be accepted and no applications are available at the Housing Authority office.
