Dozens of local Marines are heading to Afghanistan.

Approximately 40 members of Company B's 1st Engineer Platoon will leave Tuesday morning for Camp Pendleton.

They'll spend a month and a half training with another unit, and then will deploy to Afghanistan for about 7 months.

During their time there, they'll help with clearing roads, construction and training local troops.
