NILES — Firefighters were called to the scene of what witnesses said was a large fire at the Blueberry Hill Pancake House on South 11th Street in Niles about 5:30 Thursday evening.

Heavy black smoke was coming from the building, witnesses said.

The fire was contained to the kitchen, and firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to the attic.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the fire, and the last of the employees left sometime after 3 p.m. The fire was out by about 6 p.m.

No one was injured.
