ATWOOD, Ind. — A Plymouth man was killed Tuesday when he apparently was pulled into a wood chipper near Atwood, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

James Vician, 37, of Plymouth was working for Tree Core, based out of New Carlisle, feeding cut tree limbs into a wood chipper just before 9 a.m.

Vician’s coworker was across the street, returned to the wood-chipper and could not find him. He then examined the rear of the holding/boom truck and called police, believing Vician may have been pulled into the wood chipper.

When police arrived, they discovered evidence of who they believed to be Vician in the rear of the machine.

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office says the incident appears to be accidental, but positive identification of the victim is not expected until later in the week.
