ELKHART ― Police say a man forced his way into a woman's Elkhart apartment and tried to rape her.

Carl Coleman, 38, was arrested for burglary, attempted rape and criminal confinement

The victim claims that on September 14 Carlson broke into her apartment and took her phone away when someone tried to call her. When she didn't answer, the friend stopped by to check on her, and then stood by until Coleman left the apartment.

During their investigation, witnesses told police a man matching Coleman's description was in the neighborhood. He was reportedly asking random women if they wanted to have sex.

Coleman is being held on a $250,000 bond.
