SOUTH BEND — The Boeing Co. and the University of Notre Dame have established a partnership in which Boeing will fund research projects with a focus on technology translation, the university announced Monday.

Boeing will collaborate with Notre Dame faculty and research engineers in disciplines, particularly the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering department, that have applications to current and future Boeing products. The partnership will focus on applied research in the areas of aero-optics and flow control.

With headquarters in Chicago, Boeing is a major aerospace and defense corporation that employs more than 158,000 people.

Boeing already has worked with Notre Dame since 2002 on various flow control projects.
