One person was severely burned and a firefighter was injured in a house fire in Mottville, Mich., north of Bristol Wednesday night.

Firefighters were called to a home at 70782 Thomas Road about 8 p.m.

That's where they found flames shooting through the roof of the home.

Officials say the person living there is in critical condition after being airlifted to a hospital in Kalamazoo.

Michigan State Police at White Pigeon tell SBT24/7 News that the firefighter was taken to Three Rivers for treatment, then flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo as a precaution.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the White Pigeon firefighter, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause of the fire is unknown and still under investigation, according to Trever Slater, a MSP trooper and fire investigator.
