The two passengers in a Mustang that was involved in a chase with Starke County police were killed Friday night when the driver lost control on a wet road in Grovertown, the Indiana State Police reported Saturday.

The driver was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

An ISP dispatcher said a Starke County Sheriff's officer initiated a pursuit of the Mustang. The male driver lost control at 10520 E. 600 North at 10:30 p.m. Central time Friday on a wet roadway and crashed into a tree. A male and a female were killed in the accident, the dispatcher said. He had no information on why the chase was initiated.

Neither the condition of the driver nor any names of those involved in the wreck have been released.
