SOUTH BEND — A 44-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder Sunday by a man arguing with his mother, according to St. Joseph County police.

Officers said the victim's mother told them a man who rents a room from her in the 54200 block of Ironwood Drive north of South Bend and his son were arguing with her about 7:50 p.m. when the renter pulled a razor knife and cut her son.

Police searched Candlewood Apartments because they had information the suspect's son lived there, but they did not find him.

Police said the victim received 15 stitches to close the cut on his shoulder and then was released from a local hospital.
