Martin's grocery stores recently changed their logos. They were left with thousands of unusable stationary cards. They were going to just throw them out, but they decided to have students write messages to the troops.

The response was overwhelming. Around 24,000 cards came back.

Blue Star Moms are organizing a care package drive next Saturday at the South Side Wal-Mart in South Bend. The Martin's cards will be part of that care package shipment.

The Smithsonian in Washington has asked for some samples of the letters. They're going to use them for a new exhibit on war time communication that will open in two years.
