History has repeated itself for a 76-year-old registered sex offender.

Larry Hostetler, of Goshen, was sentenced today to three years in prison for exposing himself to girls in area stores.

Hostetler had pleaded guilty to Class D felony counts of public indecency and performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor. His binding plea agreement, which dismissed two misdemeanor public indecency charges, capped his prison time at three years combined for both crimes.

In April, the registered sex offender admitted to acting inappropriately as a 14-year-old girl was looking at cards at a Dollar General Store in St. Joseph County. In June, while he was awaiting trial on that charge, police arrested Hostetler again after he reportedly exposed himself to a 3-year-old girl at a Mishawaka Kmart store.

Judge Roland W. Chamblee approved the plea agreement and ordered the sentence, which includes three years of probation after his prison release.

Hostetler was already a registered sex offender after a 2004 conviction for vicarious sexual gratification in Elkhart County. Like the present case, he pleaded guilty to that charge and received a three-year prison term.
