SOUTH BEND — An 80-year-old man told police he was robbed late Tuesday night outside his apartment on the city’s southeast side.

The man told police he left his car just after 10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Topsfield Road and was about to enter his apartment when he was approached by a man who demanded money.

Police say the robber showed no gun and didn’t threaten force, but took money out of the victim’s wallet before running away.

The victim told police that the man — described as white, wearing dark clothing and about 35 years old — ran behind a building and out of sight, possibly to a waiting car.
