Police continue to investigate a fatal accident that happened during a police pursuit Tuesday night in Michigan.

According to the Three Rivers Police Department, their officers tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Portage Avenue near Walnut Street.

Instead of stopping, the vehicle fled north — and crashed on Buckhorn Road north of town.

The passenger, who was not identified by police, died at the scene. The driver was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.

Michigan State Police and the St. Joseph County (Mich.) Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case.

The incident remains under investigation, and Three Rivers Police tell SBT24/7 News that more details may be available later Thursday.
