Police say one woman is dead and several others are seriously injured following Sunday's early morning crash on the Indiana Toll Road.

The accident happened just after 2 a.m. in the eastbound lanes along a stretch in LaPorte County, when a 1994 Toyota Priva van left the roadway, rolled over several times and came to rest upright in the median.

Indiana State Police say Lindora Cornejo Caldron, 45, died after she was ejected from the vehicle. Others injured in the accident include:

-- Rudy Alexander Orellana Vega, 35, a Maryland man who remains in critical condition at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

-- Sylvia Murcea, 38, no hometown, who remains in fair condition in Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

-- Elias Oman Serpas Juarez, 24, a Maryland man taken to LaPorte Hospital with minor injuries.

Two children also were seriously injured, according to police. Their names have not been released. One was taken to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, while another was taken to Memorial Hospital.

Two people were treated and released following their injuries, police said.

Juarez, the driver, was cited for unsafe lane movement and for two child restraint violations. He told police the group was traveling from Sacramento, Calif., to a Maryland location.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.

The crash, near the 48 mile marker in LaPorte County, shut the road in both directions for more than 2 hours.

All lanes were reopened by 4:30 a.m.
