Van Buren County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit detectives, acting on a citizen’s tip, uncovered a meth lab Monday evening in a barn loft in the 200 block of South Gremps Street in Paw Paw.

While deputies were talking to the homeowner, they heard noise in the barn. There, they found a 22-year-old Decatur man trying to hide meth lab materials and an active meth lab in the barn’s loft.

He was arrested and taken to Van Buren County Jail.

The U. S. Drug Enforcement Agency in Grand Rapids and Drug & Laboratory Disposal Inc. in Plainwell were called to clean up the hazardous materials.
