SOUTH BEND - Indiana State Police arrested a 49-year-old woman after they say they discovered 90 marijuana plants growing in her home.

Police raided the home in the 1200 block of South 25th Street early Tuesday morning, after several weeks of gathering information and securing a search warrant.

Besides the live plants, police report also finding paraphernalia, cash and growing equipment. Police said the plants were grown in 5-gallon buckets sitting in two basement rooms. The rooms both had automated high-intensity lights that moved about the room on tracks.

Police estimated the street value of each plant at $1,500, meaning the entire operation was worth more than $135,000.

Police accused the woman on several felony drug charges and took her to the St. Joseph County Jail.

State Police ask the public to call the state’s Marijuana Eradication Tip Line at (888) 873-1694 if they suspect someone has an indoor or outdoor growing operation.
