CHESTERTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana Conservation officers say an Illinois man has died in a high-speed crash inside the Indiana Dunes State Park.

The body of 23-year-old Hudson Evans of Bloomington, Ill., was found by a visitor about 6 a.m. Saturday in the wreckage of his Honda Civic at the park north of Chesterton.

Authorities say Evans suffered multiple trauma injuries when his car struck the park's pavilion that overlooks Lake Michigan.

Indiana Conservation spokesman Gene Davis says Evans' car apparently plowed into the pavilion at a high rate of speed sometime between 11:30 p.m. Friday, when a security guard left the park, and 6 a.m. Saturday.

Toxicology results are pending to determine if alcohol or some other factor may have played a role in the fatal crash.
