MISHAWAKA -- A 74-year-old Mishawaka man was struck and killed by a car Wednesday evening as he was crossing Lincoln Way West just after dark, police said.

The man was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The man was hit while crossing Lincoln Way at Wells Street around 5:40 p.m., police said.

He was not in a crosswalk, police said.

He was hit by a 29-year-old South Bend man driving west in a navy two-door Nissan Sentra.

Police did not release the name of the driver or the victim, pending notice of the victim’s family.
