Changes to South Shore weekend/ holiday schedule and fares

Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District has announced new weekend and holiday schedules for the first time in 18 years , according to a news release.

Westbound morning express trains serving South Bend, Hudson Lake, Dune Park, East Chicago and Hegewisch will be limited. According to NICTD, these changes have been made to increase the number of trains traveling to Chicago before noon, and improve on time and performance.

Chicago Bears fans attending Sunday evening games are also encouraged to pay close attention to the changes.

The schedule change will take affect, as of 3 a.m. this coming Sunday.

In addition to schedule changes, adult fares for weekends and holidays will increase to regular weekday fares.
