BENTON HARBOR — Habitat for Humanity has become synonymous with providing home ownership one house at a time. Saturday, Habitat dedicated an entire subdivision made up exclusively of sweat equity homes.

From the road, Crystal Estates looks like your typical subdivision. There are sidewalks, well manicured lawns and kids out playing on an autumn afternoon.

But the street sign indicating you're on "Hope Way" begins to provide some clues — this is no ordinary, cookie cutter housing development.

Tiffaney Blossom and her kids are the newest residents of Crystal Estates, a neighborhood made up of 21 Habitat homes.

"To help families like us get homes like this, who've never had anything like this especially brand new homes to move into, I call it a blessing from God," Blossom said.

The kitchen is daughter Myla's favorite place in the house. For Tiffaney, it's the hardwood floors.

"It still seems like I'm in a dream right now," Blossom said.

From dream to reality, Blossom will have plenty of company to help her get used to the idea of home ownership. Every neighbor has been on a similar journey to get here. For the subdivision, that's key.

While completing the Habitat subdivision was a huge accomplishment in Benton Harbor area, Habitat officials are already looking forward to their next milestone — dedicating the 100th home next year.
