WARSAW — Warsaw police say a man robbed a Walgreens store at gunpoint Monday night.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting the armed robbery at the Walgreens located in the 2000 block of East Center Street in Warsaw just before 10 p.m.

A pharmacist said the suspect quickly approached the consultation window wearing a white cloth on his face. He then displayed a shotgun and demanded OxyContin. Once the suspect obtained three bottles of the medication, he fled from the scene.

Another employee saw the man run from the store and get into a pickup truck.

The suspect, David Buell, 30, of Warsaw allegedly took his brother’s truck to for the robbery. Kosciusko police got a lead from Buell’s brother when he called to report his stolen truck approximately one half hour before the robbery.

Buell’s brother called dispatch again advising that his brother had returned to his residence. After a brief foot pursuit, Buell was taken in to custody. Buell attempted to dispose of the medicine bottles before being taken in, but officers spotted his attempt. They also located several shotgun rounds in his pocket.

The truck, suspect description and shotgun all matched those reported in the armed robbery.

Buell was interrogated by Warsaw police where he admitted to the robbery. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a B felony charge of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and a D felony charge of theft.

All of the stolen medication was recovered except for one pill that was consumed by Buell.

Buell has a previous robbery conviction from Zales drug store in Warsaw in 2004.
