Manhunt Continues for Suspect in Warsaw Double Murder

By Beth Boehne

(WSBT) The hunt is on for the man police say killed two people in Warsaw. Police say Omar Mora shot and killed his wife Lisa and gas station manager Harpal Singh Wednesday.

He's on the run after two separate shootings just a few miles apart. The first was at a gas station on East Center Street just after 5 p.m. Wednesday night. The second happened five minutes later at a home just outside the city.

Police say they've been getting tips all day long Thursday. In fact, the phones began ringing off the hook late Wednesday night, and tips have continued to flood in since then. Even so, police say they're no closer to finding the man they continue to call armed and dangerous.

It was a busy afternoon Thursday in the dispatch room of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

More than 50 tips flooded in over just a few hours. Some callers said they saw a black pickup truck with silver trim, others said they saw 31-year-old Omar Mora himself.

"We've had a lot of trivial ones but a lot of them are actually pretty detailed, but we've actually had nothing we can really respond on or go from, to say we've got a really good lead on him at this point in time," said Sgt. Chad Hill, the Kosciusko County Sheriff.

Most of the calls are coming from within Kosciusko County. But tips have come in from as far away as Chicago, where one of Mora's cousins is believed to have a home.

There are also tips he may have fled across the border to a city in Mexico where he also has relatives.

Because of that, descriptions have gone out across the country about both Mora and the truck, through the FBI's National Crime Index database.

"So if the vehicle was run or he was run, we'd get a red flag or the agency would get a red flag about the dangerousness of what we're wanting this subject for," Sgt. Hill explained.

Officers are also flooding the streets in Kosciusko County and neighboring counties.

Some are volunteering to patrol before and after their regular shifts, all are searching for a man they say may still be armed and dangerous.

Meanwhile the crime tape has been removed and the evidence collection finished, both at the Mora home and at the gas station.

Now as police continue their search for the suspect, neighbors are beginning their own search for answers.

"It's a peaceful community, very nice people to live with," one neighbor told WSBT News. "And people who don't want to be bothered usually don't bother you, and just keep to themselves."

Omar Mora is 31 years old, 5'7", 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado, Indiana plates 5181T. The truck has silver side trim guards and a black, hard-style flat bed cover.

As that search continues, neighbors are still praying for a safe resolution. They plan to hold a neighborhood meeting this weekend to talk about everything that's happened.
