BENTON TOWNSHIP — Two people were arrested Sunday morning in connections to a meth lab found in a Benton Township motel room.

Officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to a Motel 6 in the 2000 block of Pipestone Road in Benton Township for a report that methamphetamine was being manufactured inside one of the motel rooms.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found two people in the room along with a functioning meth lab and ingredients used in meth manufacturing.

The suspects, Ginger Tate of Hartford, Mich. and Scott Hoyt of Kalamazoo, Mich. were arrested and charged with: manufacturing methamphetamines within 500 feet of an occupied dwelling, possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house. All of these charges were second offenses for both Tate and Hoyt.

Officers located and seized approximately $200 worth of processed meth and components used in manufacturing.

Tate is currently on felony probation in Van Buren County on an unrelated methamphetamine conviction

Both Tate and Hoyt were booked into at the Berrien County jail and are pending their arraignments in the Berrien County trial courts.
