The Morrison Channel in St. Joseph, Mich., is closed through Friday after an accident that downed power lines Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Coast Guard has closed the Morrison Channel, off the St. Joseph River in St. Joseph, Mich., following an accident Tuesday that downed high-voltage power lines.

According to the Central Lake Michigan Command in Milwaukee, the channel will be closed through Friday while repairs are made.

All vessels are restricted from the channel, the Coast Guard tells SBT24/7 News. The area is also closed to the general public.

The accident happened about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday when the crane of a barge hit the power lines, the city's 911 dispatch center said.
