OSCEOLA — Police say a man with coaching positions at Penn High School was arrested early Sunday morning after damaging his ex-girlfriend’s home and property.

Sgt. William Redman of the St. Joseph County Police Department said officers were dispatched to a residence in the 30 block of Barberry Drive in Osceola, shortly before 4 a.m.

Police were initially dispatched on a report of a robbery, but when officers arrived they found the suspect had broken a basement bedroom window and slashed three tires to a car belonging to the homeowner’s male friend.

The suspect left the scene before police arrived, but officers managed to track down his vehicle based on a description given by the victim. Officers stopped him and he admitted to the damages.

The suspect, 34-year-old Ryan Randolph, was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Randolph was bonded out later Sunday morning and will appear in court at a later date.

Randolph is a freshman football coach and assistant boy's track coach at Penn High School, according to Teresa Carroll, a spokeswoman for the high school.

She said he is also a program assistant at Schmucker Middle School.

Sgt. Redman also told WSBT that Randolph also had a previous restraining order against him from the ex-girlfriend, but she dropped it because the two have a 14-month-old boy together and she wanted him to have visitation rights.

WSBT spoke with the homeowner, and she said she the harassing from Randolph has been an ongoing issue.
