David Snyder jailed, then released hours later

By WSBT News1

(WSBT) David Snyder wasn't in jail for an entire day. Just hours after police arrested him, he posted bond.

"The blood-thirst that the prosecutors across this land feel, because every time they prosecute somebody in a situation such as myself, they receive more federal funding," David Snyder told WSBT News.

The drama began unfolding last month when Snyder was found in contempt of court for failing to keep up his child support payments. At that time his real estate license was revoked.

Snyder's lawyer claims because he doesn't have his license he can't make a living to pay child support.

The judge told Snyder to find a different job.

"They've got two Jaguars — they've got another Jaguar also," said Roseland town council member Ted Penn. "And I was absolutely flabbergasted at the number of properties that they own, and that they do own. So do they have money to pay that $90,000-$100,000? I think they could liquidate a couple and pay it off totally."

Although Snyder claims he has no money, his wife recently bought a second Jaguar and a new house, all are in her name.

David Snyder's wife Dorothy says he's been singled out.

"They are not treating him fairly, they are not treating him like they would treat anybody else," she said.

The question remains if Snyder can fulfill his duties as a councilman. Ted Penn says no.

"Because of the conviction he may not even be able to fulfill even anything the rest of the year," Penn said.

Dorothy said she borrowed the $10,000 required for David to be released. She did the same in 2005 when a judge sentenced David to jail unless he came up with more than $11,000 in back child support.

David Snyder was also due in court Thursday on another civil case dating back to 2005.

They are treating him different? The court system doesn't do enough to these Dead Beat Dads!! Luckily these kids have their mother to provide a roof over their heads, food in their stomach and their clothes on their back. I have absolutely NO SYMPATHY for these worthless parents who refuse to pay for their kids!!! Open your eyes Dorothy Snyder!!!
