Accident Victim Receives Achievement Award

By WSBT News1

(WSBT) A teenager killed in an accident earlier this month was honored and remembered Sunday in one of his favorite places.

Zane and Zoie Triplet died when their mini-van collided with a motor home on U.S. 6 in Marshall County.

Sunday, in the annual St. Joseph County 4H Fair parade, their older brother Zach drove the antique tractor his 17-year-old brother restored three years ago. Onlookers gave him a teary eyed standing ovation.

Zach also accepted a 4H achievement award on his late brother's behalf. He says it was one of the hardest things he's ever had to do.

"It means a lot to get that far along. It's a hard award to receive and we were all so proud of him earning it," Zach said. "I want to go up there and pick up his ribbon for him."

This would have been Zane's last year in 4H. His sister Zoie was ready to join next year.

Zach and other family and friends will show Zane's livestock at the Fair this week.
