Head-On Crash on McKinley Highway Injures 2

By Beth Boehne

(WSBT) A head-on crash injured two people, one seriously, shortly before 10 a.m. on McKinley Highway just east of Bittersweet Road.

A car and a sport utility vehicle collided in the 12200 block of McKinley, trapping at least one victim.

Police say the 76-year-old driver of a Ford Escape was westbound on McKinley when he crossed the center line, hitting an eastbound Cadillac driven by an 84-year-old man.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken to Memorial Hospital with leg, abdominal and neck injuries. The driver of the Escape was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was rerouted at both Cedar and Bittersweet while investigators reviewed the scene.
