(SBT24/7News) A dispute lasting more than three years over land needed for a future expansion of the Plymouth Airport came to an end Thursday with the approval of a purchase agreement for the 33-acre plot.

In an early morning special meeting of the Plymouth Board of Aviation Commissioners, board members voted unanimously to approve a purchase price of $870,000 for the plot owned by Carl and Tanya Stockberger, which lies just south of the airport’s current boundaries.

"It’s just good to get it worked out," board secretary Rick Huff said.

The plot has been a point of contention since March 2003, when Carl Stockberger turned down an offer of $436,000 for the property. Since that time, the issue has been tied up in court proceedings, with city officials initiating condemnation proceedings in an attempt to take the land by eminent domain.
