MISHAWAKA - One of the best players to ever come through northern Indiana, Demetrius Jackson has been selected as the WSBT/Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Year.

Jackson recently completed a record-breaking career at Marian High School, in which he became the all-time leading scorer in St. Joseph county.

The outstanding student athlete of the year award is the latest in a long list of honors for Jackson, who was a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Indiana, an Indiana all-star as a junior and senior, the NIC most valuable playerand a McDonald's all-american.

Jackson averaged 25.9 points per game as a senior, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 steals.  Jackson's career highlights include leading Marian to the semi-state as a junior.

He is already enrolled at the university of Notre Dame, where he'll play for Mike Brey.
