St. Joseph County and the Indiana Department of Transportation on Thursday announced traffic restrictions for roads on Friday.

For the Ironwood Bridge over the St. Joseph River in the South Bend area, the existing restrictions along the southbound lanes will be relocated to the eastern most northbound lane during the daytime while crews repair curb and sidewalk sections along the east side of the bridge, a St. Joseph County Department of Public Works news release says. This will shift northbound traffic to the inner lane. The traffic patterns will resort back to normal patterns at the end of each work day.

This new configuration is expected to last for about the next two weeks.

In Plymouth, southbound U.S. 31 will be restricted to one lane between 4A Road and 5A Road while crews load soil onto trucks parked along the shoulder of the highway, the Indiana Department of Transportation says in a news release .

The work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is anticipated to be completed by 3 p.m. The schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
