BENTON HARBOR -

For years, WSBT has been telling you about the money problems in the Benton Harbor Schools.

Now, an independent review has concluded a financial emergency does exist in the school system.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder assigned a team of experts to investigate the district's finances earlier this summer, and it's now up to the governor to make a decision about what happens next for the district, which includes a possible state takeover.

Snyder has 10 days to decide.

The district is dealing with a $15 million deficit.
