One person was killed in a collision between a van and train in Dunlap.

This happened just before 11:30 a.m. Friday at C.R. 13 and C.R. 45. That's just east of Concord High School.

Police tell us the van, driven by 33-year-old Michael McMannis of Elkhart, was heading south across the tracks when it went around the lowered crossing gates and was struck by the train.

The train dragged McMannis' van for about 100 yards before it was able to stop.

McMannis died on the scene.

That stretch of County Road 13 was closed for several hours while police investigated.

We're told the train was carrying crude oil, but there was no leak.
