A Mishawaka man is accused of killing a St. Joseph County teenager more than 25 years ago. This morning, that man is expected to appear before a judge.

Phillip Geans, 43, is accused of killing 16-year-old Theresa Burns.

In 1988, police say Burns left Mishawaka High School to go to her Dillman Street home to change clothes.

Police say Burns was released from school late that morning with plans to return, but she never came back to class.

She was found dead in her home hours later.

In the last six years, Geans has been convicted of two felonies – including beating his 75-year-old roommate in the head and face with a handgun.

An initial hearing for Geans is expected to begin at 9 this morning.
