Firefighters: Passerby saved South Bend man's life
An elderly man has serious injuries from a late-night house fire in South Bend.
In fact, firefighters say this man might not be alive had it not been for the person who rescued him just before fire crews got there.
This happened in the 1600 block of South Leer Street.
Firefighters say a woman passing by spotted the fire and managed to pull the man outside and into the front yard.
It's not year clear what started the fire, but we're told it started in an upstairs room. Investigators say the man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Meantime, fire crews have also been busy Wednesday morning with a business fire in the 3700 block of Sample Street, which is between Sheridon and Falcon.
The cause of the fire at C & M isn't yet known or at least told to us.
