SOUTH BEND -

It could be several more weeks before we learn what will happen with the former College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend.

The downtown building has sat empty since the Hall moved to Atlanta in December 2012.

Four groups submitted proposals to the city ahead of the August deadline on what they would do with the building.

One of those bids is from a local group.

Development Director Scott Ford told WSBT Thursday the team reviewing the plan is taking its time to make sure it gets it right.

"We want to make sure that we get the right fit," Ford said. "This is one where it's worth taking our due diligence and not just filling it with the first past the post."

Ford said the city can't commit to a schedule yet, but they hope to have a better sense of when they can announce any new developments in the next few weeks.
