A St. Joseph County jury on Wednesday convicted a disbarred attorney of three counts of forgery.

In May 2012, Rodney Sniadecki, 47, a formerly practicing local attorney, was indicted by a grand jury on the three forgery counts, each a Class C felony, and each with a prison sentence of 2 to 8 years and a maximum fine of $10,000.

He was found guilty of forging names on legal documents and filing fraudulent tax returns while he was under suspension.

He practiced law in Mishawaka and South Bend and was suspended for six months in November 2007.

Sniadecki was disbarred by the Indiana Supreme Court in 2010.

In a news release from the St. Joseph County prosecutor's office, the prosecution had the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt on each element of each felony offense charged before a petit jury.

Sentencing is set for December 11.
