BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -

A Benton Harbor man is recovering after he was shot on Thursday.

Police were called to the 1200 block of Parkway Ave. in Benton Township shortly before noon.

Johnmonte’ Randle, 26, was found in the front yard with gunshot wounds to the legs.

Investigators believe Mario Cummings, 20, of Benton Harbor fired two rounds of shots through the front door of a home, striking Randle.

Police say Cummings and Randle got into an altercation that escalated into gunfire.

Cummings got into a car and sped from the scene before officers arrived.

Randle was taken to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph where he was treated. His injuries were not life-threatening.
