An Elkhart man has been found guilty of molesting a 12-year-old girl.
Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill says Corday Dixon, 28, faces up to 50 years behind bars for molesting the young daughter of a woman who took him in.
According to evidence, Dixon was temporarily living at the home of the 12-year-old when the sexual-related crimes took place in May 2010. The evidence shows the mother often left her daughter alone with an adult sister who was recovering from health issues.
The molestation came to light after the girl sought advice from a friend her age who told her to tell an adult.
Hill says Dixon tried to molest the child a second time, and the girl sought assistance from her father.
At the trial, the now 15-year-old girl testified she slept on the living room couch, and because Dixon had hurt his foot, she offered him the couch to sleep on. Dixon then suggested they share the couch. The girl described how Dixon sexually abused her and confused her of what to do. The child testified she told her sister, because she wanted Dixon to leave.
Sentencing is set for October 17.
