MISHAWAKA -

Mishawaka police are investigating a Wednesday afternoon bank robbery.

Around 12:45 p.m., PNC Bank at 350 Bittersweet was held up.

It forced Penn-Harris-Madison school officials to put nearby Penn High School, Schmucker Middle School and Bittersweet Elementary under "external lockdown" for about 10 minutes. That means school doors were all locked, and no one was able to enter or exit.

Police say surveillance video shows the robber wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt over his face, baggie light blue jeans who was seen carrying a black hand gun.

The suspect walked into the bank, made his way to a teller and demanded money. He then got an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the bank.

The culprit is still on the loose.
