GREENSBORO, NC -

For most track and field athletes, the season peaked last week in Bloomington at the state championships.

For Anna Rohrer, that was just the first leg of her personal Triple Crown this summer.

Rohrer, Mishawaka's distance star, finally had some competition in the 5K Friday night.

She took the lead about 4 1/2 minutes into the race at the New Balance Nationals, and then, against some of the best runners in the country, Rohrer smoked her competitors.

Rohrer was a cross country national champion in 2012.

Now, she claims the national title in the 5K, finishing in 16:16.97, about 30 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher.
