There is no more certain sign that a new season of college football is right around the corner than Watch Week.
And it's here!
Two Notre Dame players were named Monday to the Watch List for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the top defensive player in college football.
Junior cornerback KeiVarae Russell and sophomore LB Jaylon Smith are both on the early list of players to watch.
And that's not all:
Everett Golson is on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which will be awarded to the top player in college football.
Golson returns to the team this year after missing all of last season.
And even though more than 18 months will have passed between starts for Golson by the time the Irish take the field in the opener against Rice, he's doing plenty to be noticed.
Golson is serving as a mentor at the prestigious Elite 11 QB camp in Oregon this week, a training ground for the top prep quarterbacks in the nation, which boasts alumni such as Matthew Stafford and Andrew Luck.
But a report Monday from 24-7 Sports says the star of the morning session was Everett Golson!
The account given said that Golson was on point and dialed in!
