In honor of the 50th anniversary of of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the University of Notre Dame will ring bells and offer mass in his memory. 

The bells of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart will toll at 2 p.m. on Friday in honor of the president--the time of his death. 

Masses will also be offered at 11:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Notre Dame will also recognize the anniversary at the football game Saturday against Brigham Young University. A flag will be presented by G. Robert Blakey, the chief legal counsel and staff director for the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations. 

President Kennedy was awarded Notre Dame's highest honor, the Laetare Medal, in 1950.
