Police across LaPorte County Friday went on an early summer sweep and put 23 people in jail.
It's an effort to serve active arrest warrants and basically clean up the books.
At least six different agencies were involved in the sweep, including Michigan City Police, the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, US Marshal's Service, LaPorte County prosecutor's office and Trail Creek Police Department.
The highlight of "Operation Summer Sweep Up" was an arrest warrant that was served in the 500 block of Holliday St. in Michigan City that resulted in the seizure of cash, marijuana and marijuana-baked goods.
Also, during the sweep, additional marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cash, guns and a large pot growing operation were seized.
Michigan City Police Chief Mark Swistek was pleased the results of Friday's sweep. He says more arrests are expected.
Swistek encourages anybody with any information of criminal activity or the location of wanted fugitives to call Michigan City Police of the city's Crime Tip Hotline at (219) 873-1488.
