The Marian Knights are just three wins away from a state volleyball championship.
On a team full of all conference performers, one simple fact tells you all you need to know about how important Allison Ketcham is to Marian's success. She NEVER leaves the floor.
"I love being in on every point", Ketcham says.
"She's played every point for 4 years. She's the real deal." coach Dan Anderson boasts.
Ketcham and the Knights are indeed the real deal. And Ketcham is center-piece of the top ranked team in Indiana, which will be competing in the semi-state this weekend.
"She controls the whole court. She can do it all" says Anderson. "It's nice to have her leadership and skill on the court. Her skill is at an unbelievable level."
Which is precisely why Ketcham was recently recognized as a 1st team all N.I.C. performer. She's also skilled in the classroom, where she holds a 4.4 GPA. And with a state title now within reach, Ketcham is focused on leading the Knights to the game's biggest prize.
"When it ends, we want to be the ones on the podium. We work hard every day. I don't want it to end and I don't think anyone else does here either."
Who knows. If Ketcham and the Knights keep playing like they have, the ending may be storybook.
Marian has 3 state runner-up finishes in the last 8 years. The Knights play in Semi-State on Saturday against Bellmont. The game will be played at Plymouth High School at 11am.
