The man accused of shooting his 6-year-old son Thursday night has been formally charged, although police are still looking for the suspect.
Around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, South Bend police received a call about a shooting in the 700 block of N. Olive Street. Officers found a 6-year-old boy, Kenny Holloway, had been shot in the leg. Kenny was taken to Memorial Hospital.
Police say Jerome Holloway, who lives at the home, told officers he and 29-year-old Kenny Lee, had an argument, and Lee was asked by the boy's mother to leave. Lee is reportedly Kenny Holloway's biological father.
While riding his bike from the home, Lee allegedly fired a gun at Jerome Holloway, and Kenny Holloway was struck by the bullet.
Fortunately, the boy's injuries turned out not to be life-threatening.
Even though he was still on the loose, Lee Friday was formally charged with Attempted Battery and Criminal Recklessness. An arrest warrant was issued, along with a $60,000 bond.
Lee is described as a black male, 5'9", 165 pounds, black hair, brown eyes.
If anyone knows where Lee could be, you should call South Bend police at 574.235.9263 or Crime Stoppers at 288.STOP. Lee should be considered armed and anyone who contacts him should not attempt to detain or apprehend him. Anyone who has immediate contact with him should call 911.
