GOSHEN -

Police have released the name of a man found dead in Goshen Monday morning.

Tina Kingsbury with the Goshen Police Department says officers were called to the area of Lincoln and Steury Avenues after reports a person lying on the ground motionless.

The man has been identified as 59-year-old Robert Henke of Goshen.

Police say Henke was reported missing after he went on a bike ride and didn't return home. 

The investigation is ongoing. A cause of death has not been released.

At approximately 5:10am, Officers were called to the area of Lincoln and Steury Avenues in reference to a call of a person lying on the ground motionless.

Officers arrived on scene and found an unresponsive male subject lying on the ground. It was confirmed that the man was the subject of a missing person case with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department which originated the night of August. The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of family.

It was later confirmed that the decedent was in fact the resident reported missing, Robert Henke, age 59, of Goshen. Mr. Henke was reported to have been on a bicycle ride and never returned home. Both Elkhart county officers and Goshen city officers extensively searched the roads and bike paths in the area believed to have been the route Mr. Henke would have been near. This incident remains under investigation. There is no further information available at this time.
