We're learning new details after a police chase in Starke and Marshall County Wednesday night. Police have named the suspect -- Paul Coffin.
Officials say it all began in Starke County when an officer tried to perform a traffic stop for a minor violation, but Coffin allegedly went into reverse and pinned the officer between the two cars.
Authorities say the officer then fired three shots towards Coffin's vehicle, but they all missed.
The original officer went back to his car, according to officials, as another officer pursued the suspect -- chasing the vehicle more than five miles with speeds over 100 miles per hour at times.
Police say during the chase, Coffin almost hit an oncoming car.
Officers pursued the suspect into a field off 7th Road and Union in Marshall County where Coffin jumped out of the moving car and it came to a stop in a bean field.
Police say Coffin got up and ran about 300 yards into a wooded area before an officer caught up and tased him.
Coffin was treated for his injuries in the hospital and booked into Starke County Jail with no bond pending review of charges.
